In handling patient data in this study, the individual investigator attended ethics courses in carrying out the research, paid sufficient attention to the protection of human rights, complied with applicable laws and regulations (Personal Information Protection Law, Ethical Guidelines for Life Sciences and Medical Research Involving Human Subjects), and obtained approval from the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine Medical Ethics Review Committee.
Participation in research is of the individual's own free will and is not compulsory; no disadvantages will arise if consent is not given; consent can be withdrawn at any time even once given; in such cases, research specimens and results collected will be destroyed and not used for research; data are personal information and will be strictly managed and used for research purposes. The data are personal information and will be strictly controlled and stored in a locked cabinet, separate from personal identifiers (name, date of birth, patient ID, etc.). The genetic information collected will not be used for any purpose other than the research in question, and will comply with the Personal Information Protection Law, and sufficient consideration will be given to personal privacy and information leakage. Information that allows third parties to identify individuals, such as names, initials, dates of birth, patient IDs, etc., will be excluded. The committee will decide the data access permission on the request by other researchers.
Studies are experimental investigations of a particular phenomenon, e.g., case-control studies on a particular trait or cancer research projects reporting matching cancer normal genomes from patients.
