NMRC (National Medical Research Council) developed a Framework for Research Data Sharing and Governance to cover broad principles on research data sharing. The Framework requires NMRC-funded projects to allow open access to peer-reviewed publications and to share final research data for projects seeking funding of $250,000 and above. The implementation of the Framework will be in two phases. The first phase commenced in May 2015, encompassing the open access of publications for all existing and new projects. The requirement for sharing of final research data will be implemented in Phase 2 with the preparation work in progress.
Human Subjects and Privacy of data sharing 1. Review by IRB: Data Sharing Plan requires review and endorsement by IRB before the awarded project may commence. 2. Controlled Access: Controlled access for all human subject related datasets. 3. De-identified Data: Investigators are to submit de-identified data (using common de-identification standards) to the Research Data Repository. 4. Linkage of Data: Linking of data (if required) will be performed by Trusted Third Party and can be done without data re-identification when the data involved use the common de-identification standards. Studies are experimental investigations of a particular phenomenon, e.g., case-control studies on a particular trait or cancer research projects reporting matching cancer normal genomes from patients.
